Bowmore is Islay's oldest distillery and home to the world's oldest whiskey store, No. 1 Vaults. In this legendary warehouse, Bowmore Whiskey has been carefully matured by master distillers for almost 240 years. The company uses its own malt soils - around a third of the malt required is produced in the company's own fermentation halls, dried over peat fire and then distilled in copper stills. It shows a clear note of peat smoke and many sea and salt flavors. The basic character is the interplay of medium-strong smoke and fruity Oloroso sherry barrels.
