The history of the Demerara Distillers, to which the El Dorado brand belongs, goes back to the 17th century, a time in which around 300 small sugar factories were located in the Demerara region, almost each of which had its own small still. Here each molasses distillery produced its own distinctive rum and the so-called Demerara style celebrated its triumphal march around the world.
