Offley Port was founded by William Offley in London in 1737, initially as a wine merchant. He soon exported wine and later started producing his own postage wine. The inclusion of Joseph James Forrester as a partner in the 1930s had a decisive influence on the importance of Offley today. Forrester was a respected scholar, artist and cartographer. In decades of work, Forrester has measured and mapped the Douro Valley and the wine region on its banks.
The brand gained international recognition as a creator of high quality wines.
