Santiago is the oldest city in the country, founded in 1514. In the past, the rum distilleries sprang up like mushrooms, and there are still several companies based there. The Ron Santiago de Cuba Rum, which in particular pays homage to the production site, also finds its way from there to the rest of the world. The tradition-conscious brand was launched on February 4, 1862, long before the revolution. In the course of more than 150 years of company history, it has come a long way, although one is not necessarily one of the well-known top sellers such as the national competitor Havana Club.
